FAQ

Find the most frequently asked questions below.
  • How to Repress Powder Makeup

Give your powder makeup products a new home with our Re-Press Molds & Metal Pans. Designed to help you make the most of every inch of your magnetic palette.

Our preferred method for preparing powder makeup for re-pressing is sieving, as it helps break the product down into a fine, even powder before pressing. However, you can use your preferred method of preparing your powder product.

For strongest hold we reccomend using an arbour press.

  • What You'll Need

    • CLASH Beauty Re-Press Mold
    • CLASH Beauty Metal Pan in the corresponding size
    • 70% isopropyl alcohol
    • Metal depotting spatula
    • Paper towel
    • Small pieces of soft, flexible plastic sheet

Below optional depending on your preference of method

    • Small sieve
    • Small container or cup to collect the powder
    • Pestle or similar tool for pressing product through the sieve
    • 1 tonne arbor press (optional — our molds can also be hand pressed)
  • 1. Prepare your Powder

Remove the powder makeup from its original packaging using your depotting spatula.

Position your sieve over a clean container and place the powder into the sieve.

Using a pestle or similar tool, gently work the product through the sieve until you have a fine, even powder.

  • 2. Prepare and Fill the pan

Sanitise the correct CLASH Metal Pan with 70% isopropyl alcohol, then place it into the matching Re-Press Mold.

Press top piece down to push metal pan to the bottom of the mold, making the pan base flush with the mold.

Lightly spray the pan with isopropyl alcohol. Fill approximately ¾ full with powder and spread evenly.

  • 3. Press

Place a small piece of soft plastic over the powder (Optional, though recommended for shimmer/glitter formulas), then insert the top press piece.

    Using an arbor press:
Position the assembled mold underneath your arbor press and press down firmly and evenly.

    Hand pressing:
Place the mold on a stable surface and firmly press down on the top piece by hand.

The amount of pressure required can vary depending on the formula you're pressing. Matte formulas generally require more pressure to hold firmly while buttery/soft formulas require less.

  • 4. Release and finalise

Press down on the top piece to push the finished pan out of the mold. Tap away any excess powder and check that the product has pressed evenly.

Label the bottom of your pan and place it into your magnetic palette. Wipe the mold clean with 70% isopropyl alcohol before pressing your next product.

  • Our Re-pressing Tips

    WORK LIGHT TO DARK
Press lighter shades first to make cleaning easier and reduce colour transfer.

USE A PLASTIC SHEET FOR SHIMMERS
A soft plastic sheet helps prevent shimmer and glitter from sticking to the press and transferring into matte shades.
Sheet is optional for matte formulas.

USE LESS PRESSURE FOR SOFT FORMULAS
Soft, Buttery shimmers and glitters need less pressure. Hand pressing is best, or use very light pressure with an arbor press to avoid product spilling out.
